Hi Tinnis, I'm interested in the Minna. If you can tell me the price and how to contact you, that will be great. Thanks!

Silicone anything is one of the worst things people prone to frizz can put on their hair. The other is the shampoo with sulfates required to get it back out. Curly girls (those with the most frizz problems) shouldn't use anything with sulfates or cones. Check out naturallycurly.com for better solutions to the problem.

When traveling often, I like to know what to get to keeping within the dreaded weight limits, especially as I prefer not to check in any luggage. This seemed like a good option, but like Nicholas I need protection against dings. So I will be getting something else.

Thanks for the review, by the way the spurt about the Timbuk2 1.5-inch Quick Release Shoulder Strap was just what I needed for some other bag.

As you have specified using a pair of scissors have always been very hard. Initially I tried using scissors but was tough to trim the beard as you have imagined ...rather you can go for some branded beard and mustache trimmers

Comment on Review: Pentel 8-Color Pencil (for the light traveling artist) by Lani Teshima

Thanks for the kind words, Paul. When I first saw the Pentel 8-Color Pencil, I just knew I had to get one. I'm finding that I can use the yellow in place of a highlighter marker at work, too, so I have an excuse to use it everyday. Yay!

I must admit I am one of those terrible Moleskine snobs. Yes, even for my mediocre doodles. I like their pocket sketchbook if I'm using anything besides watercolor; for that, the paper in their watercolor book is so much better. For longer travels, I also like their folding Japanese book. If you're feeling really creative, you can just draw on one side of the accordion sheet, and cut the panes out and frame them individually. I wish I were talented enough to warrant it (alas, not).

One thing I've wanted to do is to take one of those perforated spiral sketch pads with me where the sheets are the size of postcards. That way I can mail the sketches to my friends; much more personal than just a stock photo of St. Petersburg Square or something, yeah?

Nice review, thanks. My SO does various art hobbies so one of these would make a great gift for our travels. One less reason for her to steal away my iPhone ;)

Do you also use a particular paper/pad for drawing while traveling?

Lani, thanks so much for the kind words!

I've been sketching and writing travelogues on trips for a while and I always appreciate them later on. I still have my books from trips to Germany and Sweden, and I find that even if I write an outline of activities and impressions in a bulleted list for each day, I recall the details so much better. When I sketch and write in more detail, it gets even more vivid.

I would encourage anyone reading this to give it a go on your next trip. By bringing your mind up a little to the meta level you can not only experience the trip differently, but you might also see how you are changing through the process.

I carry a roll of "Duck" brand hand-tearable 3/4" cello tape I found in an office supply store several years ago. The edges of the tape are serrated, making it easy to start a tear. No dispenser necessary!

I wonder if it'll work almost as well to take a roll of regular tape, and score one side with a knife, so that you have little notches along the edge of the tape.
