Spring 2000 WebzineIn this issue: Baglady Boarding Pass | Gadget Review | ITLA 2000 | LL Bean TRAVELER | Summer Sneak PeekSpring 2000 IssueWelcome to the new year!Welcome to the first issue of 2000! Has it started warming up in your area yet? I hope your holiday was festive, and that you didn't end up spending too much money on Y2K preparedness. Has it already been four months since the last issue? Time flies when you're traveling! This past January, I attended the MacWorld Expo in San Francisco's Moscone Convention Center (which for me is just a bridge ride away) and got to see some great products. My calendar has filled with weekend drives to Reno, Anaheim, as well as, for the first time, Yosemite. [That is, when I'm not at my great day job as technical writer at Sybase, Inc.!] The trip to Yosemite was particularly nice, since we vowed not to take any interstate highways. Back roads all the way -- those are the best when you're not in a rush! To make sure we'd continue to appreciate Yosemite, I even picked up a Golden Eagle Pass good for a year's admission at the national parks. In between all of that, I have been very busy tweaking and updating the pages here. Here are the various updates and new features:
In this issueBaglady Boarding PassA column and regular feature here at the Travelite FAQ, join the Baglady this month as she looks at world economy and politics as a traveler [don't yawn! it's not bad!]. Gadget ReviewThis month's review is for the GustBuster, an umbrella guaranteed not to invert even in 55mph winds. ITLA 2000In late February, I finally attended the International Travelgoods, Leather & Accessories expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center, put on by the Luggage & Leather Goods Manufacturers of America. This expo is the place to see all the new luggage products, so I was very excited, as you can imagine. You'll find my report of the event in this issue. L.L. Bean TRAVELERAn interview with L.L. Bean TRAVELER catalog's VP and General Manager -- a Travelite FAQ exclusive. Summer Sneak PeekSee what we have brewing for you for our Summer 2000 issue.
