Timbuk2 Minna, anyone?

This is actually a personal request from me. We really got a lot of mileage from the Timbuk2 Metro bag in our trip to Europe, with my husband using it as a camera bag.

Since then, I’ve discovered that Timbuk2 sold a waxed canvas line of messenger bags last year called “Single Speed,” and that they sold a model very similar to the Metro, called the Minna.

The Timbuk2 Minna (left) and the Metro (right).

Back in college, I used to own one of those “Indiana Jones” waxed cotton bags from Banana Republic (back when they mostly sold khakiwear), and it continues to be one of my favorite styles of bags.

Unfortunately, it turns out that Timbuk2 only sold its Single Speed line for a very brief period about a year ago, and apparently has no immediate plans to produce any more. I almost got one recently, but I was too late and someone else snagged it before me.

So… if you happen to come across, or know anyone who owns, one of these Minna bags that they are willing to part with, please let me know!

  1. I love this style of bag also. You can find something similar in different styles, and very easy to carry, by Barbour. It is called the Tarras bag and it is available at, among others, http://www.saddler.co.uk. I have used these english hunting bags since the 80´s and never found anything more stylish or functional.

  2. I have a Timbuk2 messenger bag that looks a lot like the one on right (two tone and all). I can’t tell the size of the bag in the photo, but this one is quite small at about 13x9x4 inches (outside measurements). It has two snap things in the front instead of one like in the photo. They had tons of them when I bought mine and I don’t imagine they’re all gone. This was at Sports Basement in the San Francisco, which is also the city that Timbuk2 headquarters, so maybe they’re more available here than other places.

The thing is murse-sized (murse=man-purse) and is good sized for a basic camera bag or general carrying junk. I can’t imagine that they don’t make a bag this size. It’s not canvas. If your set on canvas some army/navy supply stores are likely to have canvas bags in various styles, but maybe not any colors but army green.

  3. HI

I found today 2 of them, one in this color you showed. The other one I reservated for me

I found it in Switzerland, so if you are still searching, tell me..

    Bye Tinnis

  4. Thank you so much, Tinnis! As it turns out, I was able to find one, so I’m all set. It’s too bad Timbuk2 doesn’t sell these anymore; they’re quite nice. Cheers!

  5. Tinnis, Do you still have the other one? I didn’t win the one I was bidding on and I’m totally bummed out 🙁

  6. I could’nt go out the house without my messenger bag. I sort of used to be a person who doesn’t bring anything. My wallet would be neough most of the time but I find it really convenient that my pockets aren’t bulging. Pretty in style to boot too.

  7. Hi Tinnis, I’m interested in the Minna. If you can tell me the price and how to contact you, that will be great. Thanks!
